More to come on OAL soon, promise. Life has been hectic, all kinds of busy in all directions lately. I did have a few moments to breathe this evening, so I grabbed some rope and a "willing" partner and engaged in some suspension bondage. Pictorial evidence below. Stupid admin tricks Good idea: Testing new group policy by applying them only to a test OU that contains your computer account.
Good idea: Cleaning up AD when you're done, by deleting the test OU you created.
Bad idea: Forgetting to move you computer account out of the OU before you delete it. | | Friday, May 9th, 2008 | | 11:24 pm |
Ratless. :( I took Bit Dawson-Simmons to the vet to be put down this morning. It doesn't feel right in the house without the little caged critters shuffling about. I miss her a lot, and I still miss her sister, Pixel, too. That's the problem with owning pets, you usually out live them. Current Mood: Very Sad | | Friday, April 11th, 2008 | | 10:18 pm |

Cell phone stuff... My cell phone's battery is practically dead, and has been for the last couple days. I'm surprised it still tells me what time it is. I'm picking up a new charger tomorrow. This poor little phone acts a bit odd when it's this low on battery, so if you've tried to call me the last couple days, I probably don't know. E-mail is the best way to get in touch with me until Friday night or so. Also, my company needed a new photo of me for some reason. Results at this link. | | Sunday, April 6th, 2008 | | 12:17 pm |
The purple batch is done, and it came out fantastically. It's still streaked, but in a much more consistent fashion that makes the rope really stand out. Plus, this time, I remembered to turn the flash on. Pictures below. ( Read more... ) | | Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | | 8:39 pm |
Rope dyeing update... Well, the first batch is done. It came out.. differently than we expected. It seems that the 'nylon' rope we bought was, in fact, a mix of nylon and polyester. The dry dye we used does not dye polyester, so we got some interesting 'streaked' results. We like it, and plan on doing another batch here shortly with twisted braid rope (the first batch was solid braid) of a slightly smaller diameter, also nylon and poly. I managed to get a few crappy pics of the rope before the battery died in the camera. Pics under the cut. ( Read more... ) | | 5:17 pm |
spiralsong and I are dyeing our first batch of rope. It's been through the dyeing process and is currently in the washing machine. We're working with a length of 100' nylon, and are using royal blue dry packet dye. We'll let you know how it turns out! | | Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 | | 9:39 pm |

spiralsong's car won't start. It's parked outside of my parent's home. We don't really have the money to fix it right now. She needs it to get to work on monday. We have no clue what's wrong with it yet. This situation has the potential to seriously damage my calm. | | Monday, February 11th, 2008 | | 12:21 am |

One very sexy ship.. The trek geek in me hasn't had much to 'gasm over since they canceled Enterprise, but... damn. Just.. damn. That is one HAWT ship. Christmas 2008, you say? I know where I'll be. | | Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 | | 10:19 pm |

A private note to my nicotine addiction Dear cigarettes, Wow, 9 years. You've been there with me through thick and thin. In sickness and health, through love and loss, in the good times and bad, you were there. You have been comforting and supportive, and you never complained when I left the toilet seat up. Despite all of the joyous moments we've had together, the time has come for us to part ways. Now now, don't cry. You have plenty of other lovers, and you'll find someone to take my place before I'm done writing you this letter. I'll miss you, of course. Especially after sex, or a good meal, or when I'm driving. You've been with me when I wake and before bed, and you've killed the tediousness of more boring work days then I can count. When things get rough and stressful, I'll miss you all the more.
Why am I leaving, you ask? Well, to be honest, it's not me. It's you. You make me smell like an ashtray. You kill my sense of smell and taste, and those are both things I like most of the time. You cause this gunky feeling in the back of my throat that makes me want to gag. Not to mention the fact that breathing properly just hasn't been possible since you've come into my life. In short, there are a lot of reasons I'm leaving, and although it won't be easy, I'm commited to this decision. Good luck in life, and please don't call or write. Hey there folkses. As you can see, I don't really update here much. I'm just not the type to jot down every little thing (no offense to those of you who post frequently, I do get a kick out of reading your journals), and what I tend to write about, the things I'm passionate about, aren't always fit for public consumption. So rather than going through the trouble of setting up different groups and locking some people out of certain posts, here's what I'm going to do. Spiralsong and I have our own blog, over at our domain, Oblivion And Leather. I'll post a note here when I put a new entry up, and include a link to it. That way folks who know what I'm about can read it and comment and all that. I'll likely post big life event stuff here, and probably some random dribble from time to time, but the meaty stuff will be over at OAL. I won't be shutting this LJ down because I use it to keep up with my friends list. While I'm on the subject of friends lists, I'd just like to take a moment to wish all me pals here a very happy holidays and a prosperous new year, whatever prosperous may mean to you. - Niy | | Tuesday, September 11th, 2007 | | 8:26 pm |
My car has a wicked sense of humor. Seriously. For the last two weeks, the service engine soon light has been on. I got the engine scanned at a parts store, and it comes back as the bank 1 (upstream) O2 sensor. So I says okay, when the car repair budget builds back up I'll get the part and put it in. I ran the numbers and figured out I could get the part on the 14th. So for two weeks now, I've been a little nervous/worried about the car. Nothing nerve racking, but it's kept me on my toes. I get in the car this afternoon for a short business trip, and NO LIGHT. The light was on this morning on the way to work. The lights test fine when the car starts, but the light that's been nagging me for two weeks? Gone. Is the O2 sensor suddenly all better, just 3 days from when I could fix it? Hell if I know. |
